Dear members

Hope you all enjoy the gathering and small treat at Geeta’s House!
We are having a break on 29th August 2009 (go meet up with your friends family or get a hot date!)

Post Concert Gathering

As per SMS, the plan for Friday is as follows:
630pm:
Meet at Pasir Ris MRT and leave for MJ Chalet
Venue: Aloha Loyang Bungalow 7
Hope more of you can go together and interact with the MJ dancers a while.

8pm:
Leave Aloha for Geeta’s House
10 Elite Terrace (Near Siglap)

830pm ALL to reach Geeta’s House.
Please do not be late!! Activities start at 830pm sharp!

We will be ordering food in.

We have some games planned and prizes available!!! WOOHOO!!

After which we have important club matters to discuss with everyone (RDF members)!!

My name is Edmund Lee, a student writer for NTU’s campus newspaper- The Nanyang Chronicle. I’ve smsed you in the afternoon, and I want to thank you for agreeing to do the interview taking the time to answer a few short questions from us.

First of all I want to say that as I sat there as part of the audience watching the performance by Redeafination, I must say that it was truly amazing and impressive. Many members of the audience I have talked to after the end of the concert mentioned the dance item by you guys were one of those that touched their hearts that night.
Here are the questions:

1) Could you tell us more about RedeafintionRedeafination, who you are and what you guys do.

2) What is the vision of RedeafintionRedeafination?

3) Is this the first time RedeafinationRedeafination performed in NTU?

4) How does the team feel about the performance that night and how was the experience like?

Post Concert Celebration

Dear RDF and Legend

We are planning to drop by NTU’s post production party to thank them for everything.
After which we will have our own celebration to have “non dance” time with one another. hahahah
We also have important club plans to discuss after meeting up with several groups this week.

hope everyone can be ard including all legend who has worked with us before and ALL RDF members.

We hope to gather at someones house. If anyone can offer their place please let me know!

Dancetitude 2009 – What A Journey

Stories Through Dance:

I have never cried after a performance before and I never expect myself to. But tonight, I cried the moment the audience responded with such thunderous applause. For in that one brief moment in time, everyone understood

Why do we work so hard for dance? If you have danced on stage before and danced so hard with the people you love, and seeing audience’s reaction and feedback. That is the feeling we are pursuing. And then the memories you share of the tough times together last a lifetime. The tougher the times, the longer the memories last. If you experience before, you will know it and understand. If you have not, you can decide if you want to have that.

We may be separated by a barrier of language / sound / speech yet we are bonded together by a common thing ; dance. We may be impaired verbally but we can use our hearts to communicate with you. To watch us dance is to hear our hearts speak. We have spoken and you have heard us

- Hina

No one really understands why we work so hard for performance, why we sacriface our time, blood and sweat. When we heard the thunderous audience that night and how we inspired other people, suddenly the reason became crystal clear to others. I am so proud of Redeafination!

The path leading towards the performance has not been the most smooth-sailing. The point in time where we actually contemplated pulling out from the performance is testament to that. However, with your ‘never say die / give up’ attitudes, and seeing you all work so hard, you hearing impaired dancers have given me a lot to learn; your determination and your strength. With that kind of attitude, we pushed on together as a crew; and we were seen, heard and understood that night. I’m glad to be here with you all, working hard together, because you are truly a group of respectable people. I will always be around, to fight adversity with you all, together as a crew. Dance is for everyone, and I think we’ve shown it to the audience that night

I seldom regret things that I chose. But, as for doing this performance with all of you, I am sure I’d regret it if I hadn’t.
Redeafination is redefining dance to all. It is not just giving a chance for the Deaf community to indulge in dance.
It also give a chance for the hearing not to forget to treasure it.

Redeafination has brought about a new meaning to dance for me. We used to dance to win, to compete, to challenge ourselves, to gain recognition. However, now it is no longer for own self gains but for a greater cause. I am so honoured and blessed to be given the opportunity to get to know and work with these treasured friends and commendable people. I have learnt so much from them…like ONE would say,”..deeply touched and greatly inspired!” (hehehee….). It is so amazing when I reflect and think of how we worked together in dance…breaking all barriers… To me, Redeafination is not just redefining dance but also lives. This is indeed the true essence of dance….

7 to 830 : Phototaking
Nazmi will be coming to do make up trial.
Hina will be doing the photoshoot.
Please try out your FULL costume once you reach so that we can suggest how to add on.

830 to 1030: Rehearsal

We will try a few runs with costumes. then do cleaning.

Please reply if you can make it for photoshoot.
