Dear Dancers,
For this coming Tuesday, we will be under a very tight schedule and will begin blocking of stage at 7.20pm sharp. This Tuesday is very important as it is the first and only time which we will have access to the actual performance stage. The next time you see the stage again will be on 8th Mar already.
What will happen on Tuesday is this:
We will first fun through the entire blocking once or twice. Then we will run through the choreography from the top with counting and formation. After that, we will run through a final time with the actual music.
The flow of events on Tuesday is not fixed and will depend on the orgnanisers’ intent so be ready for any unexpected changes. There may be a lot of waiting time, frustrations and messiness going on, but don’t get caught up in all that. Just give the choreographers your fullest attention and don’t chit-chat among yourselves. The moment we say “go” let’s get on stage, do what we’ve come to do efficiently and then leave the stage. Any questions you may have, just raise you hands and direct your questions to me or Nix only. There will be other performing groups around so let’s be professional about the whole thing on Tuesday.
Come fully prepared on Tuesday. We can’t waste any time on stage to conduct a rehearsal so please don’t forget your steps. If you don’t remember your steps and formation, it will firstly make Tuesday’s run very inefficient. Secondly it wastes not just our time but everyone else’s time as well. Lastly, it makes us look bad.

Dear dancers,
We’ve confirm the booking slots with Danz People already. All future Tuesday practices will be moved to Wednesday 8.30pm to 10.00pm.
Saturday’s slots remain unchanged.
Spread the word.
Sorry to all for the sudden change of plans today. It also took us by surprise and caused a lot of last minute admin problems. But I’m very heartened to see everyone making the effort to come and practice late into the night. Because of rush for time, I didn’t have the chance to make any announcements during practice so here they are. The following are very important so please spread the word to follow performers to check the blog:
[1] Change in rehearsal schedule
Due to misunderstanding, DP Studio unwittingly gave away our Tuesday timeslot to other groups. We are trying to sort out the scheduling problems with them right now. Very likely, we will have to switch our remaining Tuesday practices to Wednesday instead (same timing). If anyone has any violent objections, please voice out before I negotiate and confirm with DP. We will confirm the new schedule within the next few days so check back on this blog for the latest update on this.
PS: Our Saturday slot is unaffected.
[2] T-shirt sizes
We have gotten t-shirt samples from the supplier for trying already. Coming practice we’ll take sizes and place order so help us out. If you are not able to come, please get another dancer to “test” the size for you.
[3] Next rehearsal Saturday 16th Feb
Due to all the problems, rehearsal today didn’t go as smoothly as planned and we kept losing momentum. There is so much more to complete before Full Dress on Tuesday so we’re requesting for dancers to come early on Saturday to make up for time. We plan to start rehearsals this coming Saturday at 6.30 pm and seek everyone’s cooperation in giving full attention to the choreographer for the remaining sessions. Come early at 6 to warm up and prepare yourself for intensive training this Saturday. Same procedure as before if you are going to be late, please let me know. Thank you.
This Saturday after training, confirm chop stamp guarantee you will go home aching. Shiok man!
Dear Performers
Let’s aim to finish the whole item by the next 2 rehearsals so that we can run thru the whole flow during full dress on Tues. We would want to run through all the steps in the different formations for the whole item on the actual stage.
As the later part of the choreography has alot of playing with formations (so that we dun have to remember too much new choreo), it can only work out if everyone is present.
Please revise your steps and formations so far so that you can absorb the new stuff to be taught next.
———–
On another note, we usually have the studio early before our actual rehearsal time. Those who come early should be doing your warmups and revising on your own. Dun have to wait for everyone to come or wait for us to call for action. We should make full use of anytime spent in the studio.
Once you reach the studio
So once everyone come we will start all ready.
The above is important. During the last rehearsal, the last 2 runs with music before the video taking were really good! But for the video the standard dropped a bit. This is because you guys were all warmed up and the steps are all fresh in the mind during those 2 runs. We need to train so that every time you perform, the state of the mind is at its peak.
Enough nagging. We just hope to let you guys get used to being a real performer, no matter if you are professional or for hobby. once you are set for the stage in a group, you have to adhere to these habits so that the whole performance journey from rehearsal to showtime is smooth and enjoyable (even if tiring) for everyone. And at the end of the whole thing, the feeling of having done a great show is indescribable.
